Jon Casler has filmed over 25 hours of professional documentary footage with Joe and his mink. He started editing a short film from that footage, and realized that the short format was not enough time to do justice to material. "I think Joe has a very thorough and detailed training method that deserves to be understood completely. Joe combines techniques from several disciplines, including falconry, as well as his own reading from a wide breadth of sources, including scientific journals to pest control guidelines. Joe starts at empathy with the animal and its needs, and builds on that to create trust between him and the mink, to eventually create a mutually fulfilling relationship. The story of his relationship with mink deserves the full feature treatment."
